Why it’s important to clean your makeup brushes regularly
So often we’re in a constant rush to get out of the house, off to work or a meeting, doing the shopping, looking after the kids. Yet most women wouldn’t dream of leaving the house without at least wearing some mascara and lipstick. Many wouldn’t without wearing full makeup. But how often do we make time to clean our makeup brushes? Here’s why it’s important to clean your makeup brushes regularly.
Avoiding infections, breakouts and blocked pores
Having dirty makeup brushes can lead to bacteria being introduced to your products. Once those products are contaminated, even with clean brushes, the bacteria will be transferred onto your face when applying the product. Sharing makeup brushes and beauty products with another person could easily encourage infections such as conjunctivitis. Be mindful of this if trying out beauty products in the High Street!
With a build-up of makeup in the brushes it can cause the fibres to break and weaken the bristles. This can eventually lead to an uneven application of makeup, difficulty with smooth blending and a poor finish.
Signs of ageing
When skin is in regular contact with bacteria and is stressed out it causes signs of ageing such as wrinkles. Stressed skin will breakdown collagen levels much quicker and cause the skin to lose it’s elasticity and plumpness. So to keep a youthful skin make sure that makeup brushes are cleaned ideally on a weekly basis.
